The celebration of more than fifty years of Rock n’ Roll requires a blend of hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with today’s music. We call this anthology “The Rock”.
The extensive play list includes artists like Rod Stewart, Elton John, Phil Collins, Madonna and Sting. Groups include the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers and Huey Lewis and the News.
Proven artists and groups that made yesterday’s hits so popular, and continue to produce great music today, mixed with new talent like Rob Thomas, Nickelback, Hootie & the Blowfish, Matchbox Twenty, the Gin Blossoms and Green Day.
Presented at various times throughout each day, we are diligent in our efforts to offer feature programming that informs and entertains our listeners.
Local, State, Regional and National news with an emphasis on quality and substance. Audio is utilized to insure accurate reporting … no misquotes or misinterpretations because listeners hear the actual quote and audio from the people and events making the news. You interpret this significance of the report yourself.
Our local news brings relevance to issues of importance … news coverage that relates to residents of North Central Montana. Accurate, timely information delivered in a prompt and cohesive manner. Regional and State news are developed through a working relationship with other radio stations throughout the state and region.
National news is supplied by the highest ranked and most respected national news organization in radio today … the ABC Radio Network.
Residents of North Central Montana have long recognized the quality and timeliness of our newscasts. Additional recognition of our News at the national, regional and state level comes from the Associated Press, Society for Professional Journalists, the Greater Montana Foundation and the Radio and Television News Director Association’s prestigious Edward R. Murrow award.
Comprehensive coverage of local sports includes “live” coverage of the Havre High School “Blue Pony” football and basketball programs. Live coverage along with daily and weekend reports give our listeners immediate, updated information on local sporting activities that include football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross country, tennis, golf and softball results for area High Schools, American Legion Baseball, and numerous city league activities.
NMB provides also provides expanded local sports coverage daily and throughout the weekend when most sports activities occur. We constantly update listeners in North Central Montana on the results of individual and team sports activities.
ABC provides national sports coverage and up-to-the-minute reports on the progress of professional and college teams and individuals in their quest to be the best in the nation and the world. Hourly update reports every weekend.
Coverage of sporting events throughout the Big Sky Country of Montana is no easy task. Team travel to great distances, communication logistics, scheduling conflicts and the huge amount of sports activities we broadcast require a well staffed, professional sports department that features four play-by-play announcers.
Prompt, accurate, local weather reporting is a monumental commitment to our listeners. We constantly monitor a variety of sources including the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. We work diligently to keep our listeners current, with the latest climatic changes, disturbances and potential threats from adverse weather conditions.
The sheer size of our coverage area creates many challenges to bring accurate, up-to-the-minute weather reports. We have several distinct weather patterns that range in diversity from the Little Rockies and Bea Paw Mountains to the rolling plains north of the Missouri River and south through the Judith Basin. Forecasts are updated immediately and often … several times each hour when necessary!
The responsibility of notifying our listeners when weather threatens a flash flood, tornado warning, severe thunderstorm activity or winter blizzard is serious business. That’s why we were chosen to be the primary relay point for the Emergency Alert System in this area and responsible for keeping our listeners and other broadcast facilities informed of catastrophic and life threatening conditions!
Creating award wining Community Service isn’t easy. It takes an extraordinary commitment to important local concerns, integrity to strive for a balanced presentation of views and creativity to focus the public spotlight on the issues that matter.
Because all radio is not created equal, it takes a talented team to crystallize radio programming that makes a difference. That’s why KOJM has been recognized by their peers and honored with prestigious awards like the National Association of Broadcasters’ Crystal Radio Award for excellence in community service. Only ten radio stations out of more than twelve thousand are chosen for recognition each year.
Public Affairs programs like “Outlook” can be heard every Monday and Friday morning and afternoon. Individual Community Calendar items that address the instructional or charitable activities of local organizations are aired several times each hour and Public Service campaigns that educate our listeners on issues of importance rotate throughout the programming day.
We team up ABC and Business Week for sixteen reports a day recapping overnight activity on the world markets, discussion prior to markets opening in the U.S., hourly reports of the markets progress throughout the day and a wrap up of the days activities after the closing bell.
Montana’s most listened to farm broadcasters keep our audience updated with the latest information and issues of importance to agricultural producers in our area. Taylor Brown, Russell Nemetz and Kristi Pettis of the Northern Broadcasting System are the Ag Team that farmers and ranchers rely on for timely information and accurate assessment of the industry … more than all other agriculture specialists, regardless of media.
We also keep grain producers updated on the latest market conditions with the posted county prices each weekday in noon hour programming.
